Every Tribe. Every Nation.

“After this I looked, and behold, there was a multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages standing before the throne and before the lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands. And they cried out in a loud voice; “Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb.” Revelation 7:9-10

Can you imagine that? How beautiful it will be; all of us in the kingdom, worshiping the one who is worthy of all our praise. It takes my breath away just to think of it, and this past Saturday, I feel like I got to take just a glimpse of what that might be like.

For the last few weeks I’ve been helping sing worship at our church and singing in a language not my own has taught me so much about worship, mostly humility. You can’t really brag about yourself of show off when you’re not really sure what you singing or how to even say it. Beside that, it’s showed me the true beauty of God. If you know another language you know that somethings don’t always translate well and some phrases are just more beautiful in their original language. Knowing worship music in Portuguese has just given me just full picture of who God is. That he isn’t of one person or one nation but the God of everyone. Some of the songs don’t translate well into English but I understand what they say and it just makes my heart so full. There really aren’t any words for me to express what I’m trying to say, but if you’ve worshiped God in another language or another culture I’m assuming you get what I’m saying.

So Saturday we had our very first worship service, which I was very honored to be apart of. We sang to God what seemed like all night. Wow, my heart was so full! Everyone from all our church campuses came to worship together in one building. A group of people from all different zones, different lifestyles, and at least six different countries and four different languages. The night was full of singing and dancing all for the glory of God. All for him who was worthy of it all. Words can not express the feeling in all our hearts as we just felt the spirit move bringing healing and hope to everyone who was there.

The whole time I could only think about the verse in Revelation and think, “Wow, this is what the Bible was talking about. I can’t even imagine what it will be like…” Sometimes it feels like we’re a Church divided: Non-Denominational and Baptist; Mega-church and one room, back roads church; Iglesias en Espanol and Igreja em Portugues. But that night I truly sense one church, one family, coming together to worship one God.

p.s. Here’s a little video of the night if you want to take a look 🙂 God bless y’all! https://www.facebook.com/gamaliel.pinadasilva/videos/2053752041359636/
